My biggest brick wall: I am seeking any additional information on the Hatcliffe's of Grimthorpe in Yorkshire in the C15-16. In particular any reference to a Sir James Hatcliffe or a Sir William Hatcliffe; Sir James is reputedly the father of Beatrix Hawcliff below, Sir William is the reputed father of Beatrix Hatcliffe (Hatcliffe-5) my antecedent. Alternate spellings include Hawclyf, Hawtcliffe, Hautcliffe. I have found no other reference to these apart from these two references. I do not believe they are related to the Hatcliffe's of Hatcliff in Lincolnshire.
