Use old or new name when a place name changes? [closed]

My grandfather was born in Perth, NSW, Australia in 1905. Sometime later the town was renamed Perthville (to avoid confusion with Perth, WA and stop the mis-directed mail). In my grandfather's profile should I enter place of birth as Perth or Perthville? The former matches his birth certificate, the latter is more Google-maps-friendly.

Sean.
