finding a person's response on G2G?

I'm getting many irrelevant responses after I've posed a question, but there's no way to find out if a comment has anything to do with my question for these responses are listed as they come in (random order) and they are responses to the General question "of the week" and such.

To deal with finding a response, I have to search by scrolling down looking for a last name which you provide. This is enormously tedious and  what the researcher needs is a FIND mechanism to look for that person's name as listed (as in "Find: ______. , with room enough to type that person's name as you've sent it to me (anyone). That person could have replied 3 times in that queue, so that should also be taken into consideration.

This is a small task for a computer person, but it would be very helpful to our whole population.

Thanks for considering this idea.

Roberta,

Just in case you use a Windows-type computer, as a stop-gap while you're waiting for a better response from a tech-person, you can hold down the Control (Ctrl) key and the F key simultaneously, and a small window will open that allows you to type in text you'd like to find on the page (window) you have open - in this case, G2G.  You could put a person's name, or another word or two they said in the box, and as long as it matches exactly, it should find all occurrences of that word (or name) on that page one at a time.

I sometimes use this on Wikitree's surname "Find" page when there are too many results and I only want to find the ones that mention "Texas", for example.

I don't think it would work for most phones or other devices, though.

Worth a try.

I have a MAC.

Hi Roberta,

You can click on your name here in G2G. That will take you to your G2G profile. At the top you will see four buttons, One is All Questions the other is All Answers. It also has you and Recent Activity.

All Questions show you all the questions you have asked in G2G.

All Answers show you all the answers (not comments) you have made.

Hope this helps.

I don't see my name anywhere on this page.  So, does this mean I have to type a reply any time I want to see my feed?
Wow, that's pretty cool.  I've never seen that page before.

Why, is that link not available on EVERY page at G2G?  Am I missing something?

Roberta, I think you are talking about the email notifications that tell us "Your WikiTree G2G comment has been added to" (or something similar). When I get one of those messages, I click on the link that appears in the email following the line "You may respond by adding another comment:" or "If you like this answer, you may select it as the best:". That link takes me directly to the new post (and in case you have been put off by the words I quoted, following that link doesn't open a comment box or select a best answer).

Thanks to all of you for responding, and I'm rarely put off by things.

I'm on a Mac desktop fyi and I'll try to get enough room to try the things all of you have mentioned.

Thanks, ELLEN & CHRIS! I'll try these today.
