Process to change a person's original surname?

What is the process to change a person's original surname?

I have a relative who was already in WikiTree, but the Profile Manager put her second middle name as her surname.  This needs to be corrected.

Only a PM can change the LNAB.  If she is not willing to do that, you can use the unresponsive PM form.  If you are a PM there is an edit link that shows up next to LNAB.  This link does not show up for non PMs.

Actually, anyone on the Trusted List can change the LNAB!!

I believe that it is changes to the privacy level are restricted to profile manager/PM.

Lindy you are correct!  I just checked a profile where I am on the trusted list but not the PM.  It does show the edit link by LNAB.  I was not aware that trusted listers could do that!  Thanks for clarifying that!

Hi Patty

Only the Profile Manager can change the Last Name at Birth.

I checked and he is active on Wikitree so you can send him a private Message requesting that he makes the correction.

If you have a source for her correct LNAB you can add that to the profile or request that he changes it to - Unknown

I tried to add a LNAB to a person that does not have a Profile Manager. I also do not see a link to "adopt" the profile. So I put it under "other name" but it would obviously be best as the former surname.

You can find the [adopt this profile]  next to "No Profile Manager"

If you click on the link above you will become the Profile Manager

Thanks for the link above! However I am not seeing adopt this profile on any No Profile Manager properties. Do I need to get a special badget or something in order to see these?

Quinn Ressler has adopted the profile before you did, so you will have to send him a message requesting the change.

I am not sure why you are not seeing "adopt a profile" on orphaned profiles, it might be that you were not logged in when you looked at the profile.
