I am in need of help finding the parents of David Spencer born abt 1818, I think Pawling Dutchess County New York.He has a wife named Lovinia (Thompson) Spencer, but I can’t find any documentation of a marriage. I can,t find any information about Lovinia Thompson either. My Great Great Grandfather is their son named George Henry Spencer born 17 January 1852 in Barre,Orleans County,New York. In 1855 has the family living in Corning,Steuben County,New York. In April 1859 they are back in Barre,Orleans County,New York,US. In July of 1860 Lovinia passed away of a bowel obstruction while still living in Barre,Orleans,New York,US. Six other children born Allen Spencer 1842, Phoebe Spencer 1844,Lucinda Spencer 1847,Emily Spencer 1849,Salina Spencer 1853,Jennie Jane Spencer 1859.

Any information about the parents of both David Spencer and Lovinia Thompson? If that is her real surname.

Any help would be greatly appreciated so much. I am at a stop block, and must be missing something. Thank you

Looked for David Spencer's parents but did not find them. Possibly the 1860 and 1870 US Census will be useful.

You might also find information by looking around Monroe County, since 1818 is pretty early.

The following was on the http://mcnygenealogy.com/ page, and it might be a lead

Joseph Spencer was the son of Isaac second and Lucretia (Colt) Spencer, of Hartford, Conn., married November 15, 1781, and grandson of General Joseph of the American Revolution, born December 29, 1789. Isaac was state treasurer seventeen years. Joseph graduated from Yale in 1811, when he was but 18 years old. He commenced the practice of law in Rochester in 1816, a pioneer lawyer. Was at one time state senator. He married Elizabeth Selden, daughter of Calvin and Phebe (Ely) Selden, of Lyme, Conn., September 24, 1818. She was born 1796. For her second husband she married General Amos H. Eaton, U. S. A., in 1831, and died 1868. She lived for several years in Geneseo with her brother-in-law, Major William H. Spencer.
