Todd ONeill has GEDCOM uploads that have not yet been processed

I have uploaded a large GEDCOM file. I then did all the compares and matches and finally did the Add action button on all of them. Therefore, I'm done and want to start initiating merges. But, when I do that I get the error that others are getting which says Todd ONeill has GEDCOM uploads that have not yet been processed.  How do I resolve this?

I see some other posts that say to delete the GEDCOM file but I have a LOT of work in there and the Wikitree website says it's unnecessary to delete them because they auto-delete in 60 days. What are my next steps to start requesting merges of the data I uploaded from my GEDCOM? thanks.

Hi Todd, A couple of questions.  On the page where the list of gedcom files you have loaded is, how many gedcom files does it show you have loaded.  And in the right hand colum, what is the GEDOM ID. number of each file. I only see one file you have loaded. #105685  I can't see the name of the file.

I see you have added folks from gedcom #105685. If this is the file you are having trouble with, what more do you need to do with names in the file?  Add more names or Edit existing Profiles?  Also, look through the file in the right hand column on the Table Page to see if additional Suggested Matches have appeared. If you Hide Your Completed Rows, unhide them first.  I added names from a file last week and in the middle of it, all of the add button disappeared and 3 new suggested matches showed up from my file. I took care of their Compare actions and all was well again.  Possibly this occurred to you as well.  If it did, I have no answer for that...yet.

We'll get this worked out.. And do NOT delete your file.  Not yet.  Each file has it's own id in the system and neither the twain should ever meet.

Hi LJ,

On the page where it shows my GEDCOM files, there is only one file there as I've only uploaded one.  The GEDCOM ID is 105685 which is the one you mentioned in your post. The name of the file is oneill.ged.

I'm done with the names in the files and thus proceeded to do further research by finding more match potentials, e.g., I see myself as a match under another entry in WT. I try to initiate a merge but then I get the error mentioned in my post about GEDCOM uploads not being processed. How can I get past that?

From my GEDCOM file, the status is GEDCompare Report is ready. I navigate to that and I've addressed all the people in the file. I did as you suggested and looked at the right hand column. All of them only have a compare action button enabled.  There are none with suggested matches anymore.

Any more ideas? Thanks in advance.

Todd
OK Todd, Is this error occurring when you click on Compare next to matched and Attempt to Edit the Profile of the Match?

Also, I notice you were born in the 70's.  I assume the person you are trying merge is in the 70's as well.  What is the Privacy Level of this Profile you are trying to merge with?  If it is anything but Open Privacy and you are not on the Trusted List of that Profile, you will get a big Red Error box across the top of the page.  You can work only with Profiles that are set to Open Privacy or have been placed on the Trusted List of that Profile.  If the other Profile is one you created and you are the Profile Manager, it is truly strange.  I have not run across the error you mentioned before regarding other gedcom files where you are at.  An error similar to this, while actually more of a warning, will appear if you try to load another gedcom file before the first one has finished processing.

Please try it again and if you could, copy and paste the text into a reply. I need the exact error verbiage. As said, I have not run into this error before when attempting to Edit a Profile.  And I see this is the only gedcom file you have loaded.. I am perplexed more so than you.

Did a little digging Todd and I think I see the problem.  Correct me if I am wrong.  You already created your Profile O'Neill-276 Todd D O'Neill and you are trying to integrate it into Profile O'Neill-371 Todd Don O'Neill.

If in the GEDOMpare during the compare process you Matched him to your name in the file which is probably included..  Now you are trying to merge the two under the Merge Function.  OK, go to your GEDCOMpare Table and Remove the Match and then Reject him as a match.  This is ok to do as you are bypassing working on the Profile from GEDOMpare. Mark the row as Completed if isn't already.

Now try to Initiate the Merge again.  If you had him as a Confirmed Match in your GEDCOMpare Report, the system see this and sees a possible problem.  By Rejecting him, he is now just another name and the Merge should proceed.  But Todd Don O'Neill is marked as Private with Al Hibbard as the Profile Manager.  Unless you have already contacted him and he added you to the Trusted List, only he will be able to finish the merge..

Let me know if this fixes your problem.

LJ.

Hi LJ,

We're getting closer. I did as you said, I removed and rejected the match in my GEDCOM between profiles O'Neill-371 and O'Neill-2762. I then just added my gedcom entry as a new person and ignored potential match suggestions. I ended up with a new person under O'Neill-2805.

I then initialed a merge between the new O'Neill-2805 and Al Hibbard's version under O'Neill-371. I completed that process and it seemed to work.

The problem is when I'm logged in, I go under my profile and it seems that I still exists and O'Neill-2762. Thus, there are now three, 371, 2805, and 2762. I then tried merging me (2762) into 371 and it gives me the same error that uploads have not been processed. Ideally, I want my profile merged into one to get rid of these duplicates. I just don't know how to do that. Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Todd
Sorry Todd, I had not run into this before,  Bear with me on this one.

OK, O'Neill-2805 does not exist any more as it has been merged into O'Neill-371..In a merge process, the older Profile number takes precedent and stays as the merged profile number.  I checked and O'Neill-2805 will come up as O'Neill-371.

So, I tried to merge your original Profile O'Neill-2762 and O'Neill-371 and now I see the error your are getting.  DOH, oh my part.  Due to the increased functionality of the new GEDCOMpare, I have not had to run a merge for awhile.  If you still have not completed all the names on your GEDCOMpare, you cannot merge with any other Profile as the GEDCOMpare is tied to O'Neill-2762 until it is completed.  When you merge with O'Neill-371, O'Neill-2762 will cease to exist and if that specific Profile is gone, the GEDCOM can't complete.  Basically, you can't change horses in midstream is what the system is trying to say.

Try again when you are done with your Import phase and the Compare section shows there are no more suggested matches and the Add & Edit numbers are equal on your GDCOMpare Report page, ex. 459/459. If this error still occurs, you may have to delete the Report.  If you're done, it doesn't matter anymore, it will be deleted automatically after 60 days anyways. If the error still occurs after this, some global parameter isn't resetting and we'll have to have the programmers tackle it.

Sorry it took so long to get my head around this.  Just hadn't run into someone who tried to merge their own Profile in the middle of a GEDCOMpare and hadn't thought of the ramifications of making such a change.  Obviously, the programmers did.  LOL

All the best,

LJ

Good evening LJ,

My report and all the entries have been complete already. I have them all marked complete and finished all suggested matches as well as rejections. My Add & Edit numbers match exactly 230/230.

In your post above, you indicate that I can delete the "Report." Did you actually mean delete the GEDCOM file? I see that I can delete my GEDCOM file but I don't see an option to delete the Report.  Also, I see several references in WT that say not to delete the GEDCOM file as they auto delete after 60 days.  I'm not sure what to do and I don't want to do something bad like lose all my edits on my GEDCOM file. Plus, your original post to me said to "And do NOT delete your file."

So, I still get the error on a merge. I'm thinking maybe I should delete the GEDCOM file but can you please confirm before I do that that I won't lose all the work I've done to upload this file and handle all the suggested matches and rejections that I spent a lot of time on? Thank you very much for all your time on this with me.

Todd

Hi Todd, If you'll notice, I did say not yet  Was unsure how far along you were in completing it and did not want you to lose your work.  If you are done Adding the Names that had no Suggested Matches or had been Rejected as as a Match.  And you have Edited all the Profiles you Confirmed as a Match, you are basically done with it and the file is not important any more.

The numbers in the Compare section 230/230 shows you are done. One thing,if you marked any of the completed check boxes in the first column manually, the name in that row will not be added.  A filled completed check box just lets the system know you are done with that name and to skip any further action.  You'll have noticed when you Add or Edit a Name, the system checks that box automatically.

So, if you are happy with what you have done and feel you have completed all you wanted to do with the file, by all means, you can go ahead and delete it.  When you created the O'Neill-2805 and then merged it with O'Neill-371 all of your data from the file is in WikiTree now.  So you're good to go there. When you can merge O'Neill-2762 with O'Neill-371, you should be good as gold.  Just remember you will be O'Neill-371 after that as O'Neill-2762 will be gone.

Hopefully, deleting the report will remove the error.  Sorry for taking so long to reply.  Went to dinner and a movie last night and by the time I got home, I went straight to bed. Woof...I must be getting old.  And I hope I explained this well, I am just on my first cup of coffee. LOL

Let me now what happens,

LJ
Yeah!!!! It worked! I deleted my GEDCOM and then proceeded with the merge. Now my login profile is under 371.  My questions (like this one) are no longer linked to my profile anymore but no big deal as that's probably how merges work when it's your own profile that is merged away into an earlier one.  I still have links in the email.

Thank you very very much for all your time and attention. I think I'm all set for the moment and now I can start managing all the other profiles that I loaded. I'm hoping I can still see the profiles that I loaded now that my own account is 371 instead of 2762. I have poked around yet.

Todd
Yay!!!! Again Todd, I apologize on how long it took me to figure that one out. To see if your Profiles followed you over, which they should have, just click on Watch List under the My WikiTree tab.  They should be there.  If you enter  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/O'Neill-2762 in your browser, you should go right to O'Neill-371.  You can't see the other two Profiles anymore, but WikiTree remembers them.

Have fun with your other Profiles.  Then get on to more research and add more names. No rest for the weary WikiTreer. LOL

LJ
Yep, I reviewed my watch list and I have a bunch of people there. Thank you very much again. Now the fun starts for me!
