I don't have enough knowledge of this family to determine the correct surname. The Acadian Project prefers Mignot instead of Migneault per DGFA. (Stephan A White). Looks like there may be more duplicates up the line. Thanks

I can't really help, but I would say it is not Labrie and, yes, the earliest known ancestor in France is spelled Mignot.
Thanks Isabelle!

Hi Jacqueline,

The Québécois project has very specific guidelines on how to determine LNAB, which you can find on the project page.  The project does not do a lookback to earlier generations to determine LNAB, but instead uses a textual approach from reviewing the baptismal act.  It follows a write-what-you-see approach, except when there is a compound last name (i.e., Migneault dit Labrie). If you see both, then only include the root surname and ignore the dit name.  I looked up the baptism act for the profiles on the LAFRANCE database (https://www.genealogiequebec.com/Membership/LAFRANCE/img/acte/196479), and noted that the name at birth was Marie Rosalie Labry.  In this case, neither proposed LNAB was correct-it should instead be Labry.

Labrie would be acceptable, since Labry is just a spelling variant.
Anne Rosalie Labry, daughter of Joseph Labry and of Rosalie Lisotte, baptised March 26, 1765, Paroisse Saint-François-d'Assise, Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, Province de Québec, Canada.

That should be the proper FNAB.
Hey Gaston if a profile manager is unresponsive of the more obvious but also highly important LNAB's, what can be done too correct them. I have an instance of a Multi-profile misspelled LNAB Sir-name, and want too correct it eagerly so people can find it in wikitree name search.

You have to take the bull by the horns and plan your steps!

If the profile is protected (PPP), you have to refer to a project leader. See the Help:Project Protecting and merging. [https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Project_Protecting_and_Merging]

Other wise, if you are on the trusted list, you can make the corrections, making sure that you have the correct name and spelling and citing the source.

If you are not on the trusted list, you have to refer to the help Unresponsive profile manager.[https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Unresponsive_Profile_Managers]
