One of my favourite photo's, I wanted to share this family photo of Gadys Dorothy(Langridge) Yates with the community. Location: Great Uncle Frank and Great Aunty Kath's house. Date: 1965. We were surprised to see my grandparents they had made a special trip up from the Isle of Wight to see us before we left

We left the next morning for Kenya and it was 3 years before we saw my grandparents again. We were all so excited to be heading of on an adventure - to Africa.

My grandmother was larger than life, and would give away her last penny to help others. Sadly missed

Love the story, love the photo...telling our tales not only keeps our stories alive, but strengthens our "little" community. Kenya. Had a poster advertising the country on my California bedroom wall as a teenager- never thought to go there...ah, the road not taken!
Can you remember where all you visited in Kenya. Both my mom and my dad have been to Kenya for missions trips. each in a different year. The trips are around the Nakuru, Kenya area.
Chris, I've never been to Kenya...just dreamt of going when Iwas a teenager. But never got to go...sigh! Envy your parents.

Hi Chris

1965 -1969 Stationed at RAF Eastleigh, Nairobi, Kenya, dad was in the Royal Air Force. We were there as part of the hand over process to the Kenyan Air Force. It is now known as Moi Air Base.

We visited Nakuru to see the Flamingo's amazing sight, when they take flight by the hundreds. The Nairobi zoo was a favourite stop as where the arcades in Nairobi town centre.

A couple of years ago I was asked to go back to support a sports project our local school with one in Kenya. Was a bit reluctant as it is so different now to then but the project didn't move forward.

Two of my children choose it as a honeymoon destination and they had fun on safari. Not tents for them like we had it was huts in the National park

So many memories thanks for asking.

Beautiful memories, Janet! Thank you!
I want to go. Just need to get my passport, shots, and a couple thousand dollars spending money.
Yeah its' not cheap enjoy if you get there :-)

I can see why this is your favorite picture. Everyone is smiling so nicely, gathered together in the kitchen, arms wrapped around one another.

Such a sweet family picture, and a treasure - that is for sure.
