Would you use a Mayflower Descendant Sticker on your profile? [closed]

Do you have a Mayflower Ancestor? Would you like a sticker to add to your profile (not all the Mayflower descendants, that would be a lot of profiles). I even have some ideas on my profile. Unfortunately, the image is really small, so it's hard to really see what they are.

The sticker is now available see this G2G page or the sticker Page

John, I know at least two fit on the PGM sticker, There is a limit to the number of characters that will fit in the box. You'll have to experiment a little and you can add more than one sticker.

Gaile, LOL, I don't think there was a Mayflower person named "Van"
Um, for whatever it's worth, I learned at the age of ten that one of my Tobey ancestors was Captain of the Mayflower (per an old Bible record).  And later I found out that Prince Tobey was a sea captain, and there was indeed a Mayflower in service in the New England coastal trade in the mid-1700s.  So I'd be happy to display a Mayflower sticker on my profile.  :-)

(And if necessary I'll explain that my ancestors Richard Warren and Edward Doty, from very different social stations, were together on the Mayflower's initial landing boat.)
Anne, I would be proud to have a sticker on my profile honoring my proven Mayflower ancestors (Howland and Warren) and a couple I am working on (Priest and Fuller).  Good idea!
There are great images on Google images, I use them with my ancestry account
Anne,

I loved your Graphics and formatting page, that just what i have been wanting to to do instead of keeping different notepad(s), and a place to keep my graphics. So organized, bravo girl.
Thank you Rose
I think a sticker might encourage someone to look into this connection finder.  Another connection that I would like to the Revolutionary War.  However, I did have trouble searching.  I often could not mimic the search results that WikiTree published.  (For example, I saw a connection between me and Daniel Boon and Miles Standish, but could not reproduce it.)  I was told that needed to search on 10 generations only.
Yes, I love it and want one! Can you share the code or image file number? I also love your graphics page, what a smart idea!
J. I think you found the right page already, but I'm answering anyway.

https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/603587/mayflower-sticker-descendants-mayflower-passengers-available?show=613161#c613161

Glad you like the image page. I kept forgetting where I added them and some I reuse a lot. So now it's just habit. If it's at all generic it goes on the image page.
John I have four separate stickers on my site, one for each ancestors.

You missed something: copy this exactly and then paste it.

{{Mayflower Descendants
|passengerID=Billington-12
|passengerName=John Billington
|living=y
}}
This needs to be added to the page, the instructions on the page do not indicate how to fill the sticker out....

I like the idea, but do not know of any profiles I could place it on.
by James Applegate G2G6 Mach 5 (57.4k points)
Strictly for your own profile, assuming you have a Mayflower ancestor
Wouldn't it be able to go on your whole line all the way back to the mayflower itself? I've run into The founders of Nantucket which has a category you can add to the top of your profile. Not as glamorous as a sticker but still recognition.
How interesting there is a category "Category: Nantucket Founders and Descendants." Most categories like that just say "Founders of wherever" and are only meant for the actual founders. Like category Founders of Hartford. Puritan Great Migration has a sticker especially for living descendants of Ancestors. More of these may be created, in the near future.
My brain just turned on Steve, and I understand what you're saying now. And if that was the rule for the sticker "put it on all Mayflower descendants" then you could add it to the whole line. That is not the purpose and use of this sticker (although it is a little ambiguous in the wording)
Hi Anne, I started the Nantucket Founders and Descendants Project awhile back.  I was asked to have it as a sub-project.  I started the category as a way to track the descendants of the founders of Nantucket.  There were only ten original owners, each of whom was allowed to bring in one partner.  But their descendants number in the tens of thousands...  We don't have a sticker like the PGM project.  So it only shows as a category . . .
Anne, this IS a great idea.  I am related to Francis Cooke through my mother, Wanda Beach.  I thought I had followed the instructions to get my Mayflower badge on my profile, however I must have missed something.  Is there anyone who can help me?

The ID is Cooke-36, his name is Francis Cooke.

Leslie the sticker is pretty new. Copy and paste this into the biography on your profile.

{{Mayflower Descendants
|passengerID=Cooke-36
|passengerName=Francis Cooke
|living=y
}}

If you want to join the Mayflower Project and receive the Mayflower Badge. Read the Project Page (if you haven't already) and then send me a comment or message

Thank you.  I managed to get Francis Cook's ID and name on my biography.

I'm not sure how much I can participate in the Mayflower Project, but I would like to try and receive the Mayflower Badge.

Anne, I think it is a great idea. I would probably choose Thomas Rogers, since he is my primary. How do we get one????

I have to create it first, (had to know enough folks would use it first) then I'll announce it here in G2G.

As someone who just recently found a Mayflower ancestor, I'd be proud and honored to put it on my profile. Stephen Hopkins and his family are my new ancestors. Thank you.

Isn't it exciting to finally find that Mayflower Ancestor? Congratulations.

I wouldn't want to bother with a Mayflower sticker on my profile, although I have identified four Mayflower ancestors (two couples and two individual migrants) with varying degrees of certainty.

However, I have edited a few profiles (mostly from the 1700s) where I'd like to add such a sticker just to alert people to the possibility of finding good information about that person in the various Mayflower-related sources.
by Ellen Smith G2G Astronaut (1.5m points)
As I said stickers are optional and up to everyone. At the moment there are no plans to add a sticker for people in the line, between the ancestor and the living. I have added short notes to profiles to let people know about Mayflower connections.

When the mood strikes, why not? Are there other stickers for other boats?
by Sue Hall G2G6 Pilot (168k points)
I don't think there are stickers for other boats.
I like the boat sticker best on your profile.
possibly titanic survivor/passenger?

YES!  I'd like one for my grandfather's profile.  He linked me to 7 Mayflower ancestors.  And I'd like one for my great grandmother's profile who linked me to another.

Yes some of my grandfather's ancestors were on the mayflower and other ships who followed and married into other mayflower decendents.  S yes recordnition and respect of our ancestors is nice.

I'm all for it.  Maybe it will inspire descendants to join the Mayflower Society of Descendants.  It is one step toward it.   Of course their genealogical standard shouldn't be confused with this.

I would use this sticker. Is this for a direct descendant or just a descendant or both. It would be helpful for anyone trying to trace their family back to a direct Mayflower passenger knowing that a profile with a sticker has a proven link.

I've already added one, where I have solid confirmed info, but I'm working on getting a little more confirming info on the Tilley and Billington connections; as well as, other Mayflower connections. I am wondering, for those of us with multiple connections, how many will we be able to add?
by L Oughterson G2G6 (9.1k points)
On your own profile you can add as many as you like. I only have one Mayflower ancestor, but have dozens of Puritan Great Migration ancestors and only just put one on my profile for my favorite, who was the first I knew about.

I have a number of Mayflower ancestors. I am directly related to Thomas and Joseph Rogers for whom i hold GSMD certification. My research tells me that i am also related to:William Brewster (3 lines) Mary Brewster ( 3 lines), Constance Hopkins (2 lines), Stephen Hopkins (3 lines),Giles Hopkins (2 lines),John Howland, Joan Hurst, Elizabeth Tilley. Other names who are probably in the PGM list are: Nickerson, Snow, Paine, Prence, Mayo, Small and others. I would like to add any stickers that are appropriate to my wikitree account but not sure just how to accomplish that.
by Frederick Rogers G2G6 Mach 1 (13.2k points)
Lots of Mayflower ancestors, very nice. Remember the sticker only goes on your profile. You can copy/paste the following for Thomas Rogers. You can add others using the formula.

{{Mayflower Descendants
|passengerID=Rogers-171
|passengerName=Thomas Rogers}}

I would be happy to add the sticker IF I had a Mayflower ancestor. I'd be happy to add a Charlemagne Descendant sticker IF we had one...plus, we are frequently being told that half of Western Europe is descended from Charlemagne, but are they 'proven' lines. Same with Magna Carta Barons. Are current direct descendants have a MCB sticker?
by Carol Baldwin G2G Astronaut (1.2m points)
There is a (actually several) Magna Carta Descendant sticker you can add to your profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Magna_Carta_Stickers
+2 votes
Yes, I would and do. I added the Mayflower sticker to my profile a few months ago, when I discovered (through Wikitree) that Edward Fuller was not only my 13x great-grandfather, but also a passenger on the Mayflower. I can't think of any reason someone would not want to add this sticker unless less they were so humble that it felt like bragging. I say brag away.
by Daniel Alexander G2G1 (1.6k points)
Chuckle, I'm quite willing to brag also. Of course we did nothing to earn descent, so maybe it's more a celebration than bragging.
I like that, we are celebrating our ancestors lives.
