Important religious category is missing

I am actually surprised that there is no subcategory for religious persecution targets in the Soviet Union or communism in general. All types of religion were strictly forbidden in the Soviet Union and clergies were literally hunted down and murdered whenever possible. My great-great-grandfather was murdered by the communists because he was priest.

Another example is Josef Kessler, he was the last archbishop of Tiraspol and actively protested against communism. He escaped by feeling to Germany.

I think there really should be such a subcategory. I'm not part of the Categorization Project so it would be great if a member could approve of this or even create it.

This is being addressed in the overhaul of the religion categories. Please look at this space: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:MBJ_Sandbox

Such a category would be placed here:

  • Category: Religious Figures and Religious Professionals (The Religious Professionals part of this stream is a match point with Category: Religious Professionals in the Occupations > Professions stream but this stream also includes other people and categories not found there such as saints, martyrs and targets of religious persecution.)

These are not set up yet, as the task is huge and Mary Jensen is  working on it alone right now.
