John White Richardson

Question

I am looking for details of John's death which I think may have occurred around 1935 in Granville NSW. I would also like to know details of his parents and siblings. Thank-you

John was living at 76 Arthur St Homebush in 1943. That was the address of his daughter Millicent and Millicent's husband William Farley.

He died on 6 Nov 1946, aged 94 at Homebush. The death index names his parents as John and Anna. His death was registered in Burwood.

That is the right John White Richardson. I have the wrong birth date for John I have double checked my family records and it shows his birthdate as 1853 which would be about right. Thank-you again

Hi Maggie, in reference to John White Richardson's brother William, I found a death for a William Thomas Richardson, with parents John White Richardson and Ann, died 6 Jan 1936 in Gosford, NSW. Hi Again, Yes you could be right. However, I am keen to know more about Williams story. When he came out from England and was his address the same as John White Richardson's. I have often wondered why my great-grandfather bought his daughters all the way to Australia after the death of his wife and my grandmother's mother. I do know my grandmother was a triple certificate nurse in London and did not want to come to Australia. Her father said they all had to come or none of them would. So, in the end, she gave in and came with her dad and sisters. I have the travel record of their arrival here. William is three years older than John so perhaps he had already come to Australia and encouraged John White to come with his family. His wife my great-grandmother died of 'broken heart' so to speak as she lost two sons as infants and did not have a living male child. I thought my great-grandfather just may have wanted to start again in a new country with his daughters and leave the sadness and grief behind.

However, his choice of Australia may have been influenced by the fact his brother was already here. I have a deadline to meet at the moment so I need to turn my attention to other tasks.
