Can we clarify usage of Categories, Templates, and Sticker for Czech Roots?

This expands on a question in October (https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/487922/could-anybody-clearly-explain-changes-in-czech_roots?show=487922#q487922) where it is stated that the template {{Czech Roots}} should be used for any profile with Czech heritage (roots).  I believe the directive now is that templates are reserved for project protected profiles (PPP) and many projects have created stickers to be used to decorate profiles thta are not PPP.  For example, 'Irish Roots' has the {{Irish Roots}} template for PPPs, a {Ireland Native}} sticker for profiles that are not PPP but the person  was born in Ireland, and {{Irish Clans}} for those born outside Ireland of Irish descent.  Categories are no longer generated but are added separately.

I also noticed that many profiles of persons long deceased have the category "Czech_Roots_Project".  It would seem that these would be best placed in a location categories and this category reserved for living project participants as noted in the project page (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Czech_Roots).  Maybe we need some clean-up volunteers?

"Category:Czech_Roots_Project" should not be used for people. The presence of these profiles there is most likely due to misunderstandings on the side of the profile managers.

Czech Roots itself suffers from some inconsistencies that, in my opinion, should first get sorted out before other changes are undertaken.

For one, there are literally thousands of profiles with the {{Czech Roots}} template, started when the intent was to highlight location. This has morphed into an ethnic label after Czech Roots was placed as subproject under Slavic Roots. With 1/3 of the population being German before 1945 of what is now the Czech Republic, with what sticker would one replace the template? The answer should be really good to justify the labor needed to change thousands of profiles, unless a bot can discern whether a particular profile is Czech or German.

Ales has already transformed other project templates but you are correct that the replacement - German or Czech - is unclear.  It is my understanding that the template is mandated to be removed whether replaced or not and if it cannot be magically deduced by the bot, then if stickers are available for the ethnic categories and sufficient time give before the bot is run, folks can replace the template with the appropriate sticker manually.

To help, I can write an app that will find all profiles in a watchlist with the template and create a link to each so that one can easily process all the pertinent profiles.
