"I approve all" No, is the simple answer as you may find family and ancestors already on WikiTree and if you just approved all then you could be creating duplicate profiles. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person.

Click here for the GEDCOM and here for the GEDCOMPare Help pages.

  1. Compare your tree with our shared tree. We show you the most likely matches. This can be used by itself — a handy way to see if anyone in your family is already on WikiTree.
  2. Add & edit profiles on our shared tree using your GEDCOM. You add people one at a time after confirming or rejecting suggested matches.

Thank you i thought I had to check each one but wasn't sure. This can take a very long time it appears. If there are no matches as I see my Wagner does not match what I see on wiki, what do I do to add her from the GED?
Follow the instructions on the GEDCOMpare Help Page.
Most veteran WikiTreers recommend working with smaller Gedcoms. Although the system allows uploads of files containing up to 5,000 people, a file that large that can result in an onerous number of "suggested matches" to be reviewed. You might feel less overwhelmed if you split your tree into smaller pieces and upload smaller files. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Splitting_a_GEDCOM for advice on splitting your tree.
Should the tool split GEDCOMs into smaller batches - or at the least warn people before uploading large GEDCOMs?

Splitting a Gedcom isn't that simple. The splitting needs to be done at the source -- in the software that generates the Gedcom, or possibly in another software package that is used as in intermediate between the original software and Wikitree. See the "Help: Splitting a Gedcom" page on WikiTree.
