Too many individuals in MyHeritage gedcom

I tried to upload a gedcom file, made by MyHeritage. It seems to big for WikiTree to handle. The database has about 10,000 individuals. But there is no option to divide this database in , as an example, the maternal and fraternal side. Has someone a hint how to solve this problem?

Thanks,

You could download the free version of Legacy Family Tree & import your GEDCOM into it, then split the file.  See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Splitting_a_GEDCOM on how to split the tree.

Even if Wikitree could handle that size you would find it frustrating to work with so many. Each entry has to go through a comparison review to assess whether it might be a duplicate and then you have to go through the add process. I recommend that you use a small gedcom file to start with so that you can learn the process. I cut mine down to about 30 for my first attempt.

I've had no difficulty splitting family trees using the My Heritage Family Tree Builder software. If your tree is only on the website, I guess you will first need to load it into the FTB software, which is free.

In the software, the "Export" function (I think it's under the File menu) allows you to do selective exports. For example, you can select a person and export them and all of their ancestors into a Gedcom. Or choose a different person and export all of their descendants into a Gedcom.
