Thank you Ron Floyd for merging the two profiles for Richard Stephenson. Richard Stephenson was an interesting man. His land in the colony of Virginia was surveyed by the young George Washington, and they were friends. He had several sons and two step-sons who all served in the Revolution. His son, Col. Hugh Stephenson, led a company of soldiers to Boston to fight the British. Richard Stephenson's home is now Burns Farm near Charles Town, WV, and two outbuildings of his still stand.
