Am I Missing Something in SAR Applications?

For the second time, someone has removed the SAR information on one of my profiles. This one is for a woman specifically named in the SAR Application. It is said it was removed, because it was her husband who was the soldier. Pardon me, but other family members also supplied to the war effort!

Case in point, Mary Ayers-561, is specifically named in the SAR Application. When you read the information, you can readily see her name in a place of prominence. Her Role is listed as Ancestor. I view removal of her information as a slight against all women who were a very large part of their loved ones' sacrifices during the American Revolutionary War.

Please tell me if my take on this issue is out of line. Thank you.

You are absolutely right. If her name is on the application, then it's ok on her profile.
I understood what Lynden said to be that someone removed the SAR source information, which should certainly be allowed. I see now, looking, that what someone removed was the 1776 Project template. There could also have been an SAR template.

In the case of the SAR template, It specifically belongs on the Ancestor recognized by the SAR.

The 1776 project says: "The 1776 Project honors those who were involved in the early history of the United States of America, circa 1773 through 1789, by adding and improving their profiles on WikiTree. This time period covers the Boston Tea Party, through the War for Independence, to the ratification of the United States Constitution by our Founding Fathers." It doesn't exclude Patriotic wives. But you probably need someone from 1776 to give you a definitive answer.
I just found an SAR application from one of my SAR veterans, i did not know that it was a thing in genealogy. Well cool.
What is the SAR Template?
Just a caution Troy, the older ones (on Ancestry) are sometimes wrong, if you see something that feels wrong. You can go to the SAR website and it will give you newer information.
I couldn't find the help page for it.
This is the page I've been using

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:DAR-grs
Ahh thank.you That I will what is the exact web address for that,if you anyone else know that off hand? :)

And thanks for the template info.
never mind it sends me there lol
Anne you were right it was a lingering bogus ansectary.com citation, I could have sworn I read that he applied for one though. Well what be the appropriate thing too do then?

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:DAR-grs is a DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution, i.e. the member is female) template for the citation with elements of ancestor number|ancestor name|access date. this will place a line in the profile, and create a hotlink using the ancestor number to link to the record for that patriot in the DAR databases

the is manually added to the patriot ancestor using DAR applications/proof (in the future it might be modified to be added by the DAR-grs template when that is used)

NSSAR Patriot Ancestor is an SAR (Sons of the American Revolution i.e. the member is male) template using SAR applications/proof which is placed on the patriot, and the template will add them to

the patriot ancestor can be either male or female. an application is for a single person.  if that person's spouse is listed, it is the genealogy fact that they are the parent of the next person in the chain, not that they are also a patriot, if they were a patriot in their own right for SAR/DAR purposes, a second application would be used listing them as the patriot.

there is a category for the members of the SAR   this is for the person who submitted the application and was accepted as an SAR member, not for everyone listed on the application of the member back to the patriot ancestor.

a similar is for the actual DAR member

the template does not require any SAR/DAR proofs, and can be added to any profile for people of any country that were involved in the American Revolution scope

Lynden,

I removed the project tag. I have been cleaning up profiles that were placed the maintenance category, which that profile had been. I did not remove anything else. I'm sorry you felt Mary had been diminished.
