Can I use Categories or Tags to track a rare genetic disorder?

I have tried to use a category (I created EDSPD8) to track the genealogic trail of a rare genetic condition.  In general, I'm tracing its fallout but I'm looking for its source in my partner's tree.

Before I create these new profiles should I be using Categories or Tags?  I'm unfamiliar with both and wondering that since Downs Syndrome is the only medical condition I found in Categories . . . is this sort of thing usually done with Tags?

Thanks for the help.

EDSPD8 for a category ?... who will know the meaning of it?

You should check with the categorization project.  They should help you.

Tags are used in G2G only.  They are the green boxes you see under your question.
