Uncertain if these profiles should be merged

I had proposed a merge of Buck-186 and Buck-322, but after taking a closer look at their biographies, I'm not sure if they are the same individual.

I need someone familiar with the revolutionary war to take a look as both served but the states and names of commanding officers do not match.

The "Green Mountain Boys" apparently came out of Vermont and New Hampshire.  However, it wouldn't be impossible for someone from Massachusetts to be a part of the group.

If it were me, I'd make them unmerged matches until I could research more deeply each person's role in the Revolution.  Then it would become clearer.
I will not be in a position to do research on them as I do not know anything about how to research American historical archives. These two individuals are not among my ancestors as I just stumbled upon them doing rejected matches for one of my ancestors (in Finland, Europe).

I did make them a unmerged match and have to leave them for someone better equipped to do the research needed.

Well, there was a much earlier Isaac Buck who of course had a son Isaac buck as well as other sons. Now Isaac Buck 2 had a son Isaac Buck 3.

The problem is during that time period Isaac may have had another son say John for example and he named a son John but he named a second son ISAAC. So it is quite often you see the same name pop up in the same family with slightly different dates.

I am currently going through this mess with the Shaw family who decided to keep recycling names as well.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck but actually flies like a chicken it may not actually be a duck. LOL

Exactly so, Steven. My Moseley family had an unnatural obsession with the name 'William.' So many Williams over the generations, so few with any distinguishing middle name, plus different branches in the same general time frame, all named William.
One more Richard David, or David Richard, I shall scream.  grrrr
