The information for Thomas Milam born CA 1716 is erroneous

The data posted is contrary to what is found by major Milam researchers such as Oliver Milam at http://www.milam.com/ ; Robert Wilbanks at http://robertwilbanks.com/milam/ and myself at http://www.milaminvirginia.com/default.html .

It is impossible for Joseph Milam and Martha Gardner to be the parents of Thomas Milam since Thomas was born several years before they were married in Lancaster County, Virginia, as was p[ointed out by Robert Wilbanks in the early 1990s. You may read my webpage for full details:

How can this be corrected??

Then if their parents are not the above or Samuel Milam and Mary Rush, then who are there parents?

My family is of the John Bartlett Milam linage. With an abundance of cousin marrying and traveling westward all the way to Texas. I have read all the evidence presented by Robert Wilbanks and agree with his rendering of the family as it tracts with my research on John Bartlett Milam. However I am not as accomplished a researcher as John I matched my ancestors to what he has published. Karen Mixon

I live 6 miles from the Library of Virginia in Richmond. It has tremendous resources including abstracts of many colonials court records including order books, deeds, wills marriages, etc. as well as the original microfilm copies of records. At the back of each abstract are indexes of surnames. Since Thomas was first found in a court record in 1738 in Orange County in the Northern Neck, I have reviewed all the indexes of the records for counties beginning with Lancaster in the east and worked my way west to Orange.  There are no previous Milams other than the Mileham marriage which is too late.

Therefore we have  undertaken a research in England which you may read about here:  http://www.milaminvirginia.com/genetics.html

2015: The profile is orphaned. I correspond with William Milam, and he recently sent the following info:

Robert Wilbanks IV and I recently agreed to place this request on our websites:

Please help to discontinue the propagation and perpetuation of outdated conclusions, false research, and mis-information on Milam family history.

Based upon court records, etc. Robert and I also agree that Thomas Milam (1716 - 1775) married Mary Rush - not a Mary Rush Adams - and are discontinuing the use of the latter name. In addition, Robert has a webpage on Major Changes in Virginia Milam's history which you should read by clicking on this link:

http://www.robertwilbanks.com/milam/milamresearchnew.html

I placed the above request on my Genealogy Notes page:  http://www.milaminvirginia.com/genealogy.html

Please consider updating your family histories for your descendants and encourage others to do so.

In other news, this Spring / Summer I added new chapters on Benjamin Milam, John Milam, Moses Milam and Zachariah Milam including some original research which I found over the past few years and images of many documents.

Thanks for the consideration and best wishes,,,,

William Milam
