In honor of Black History Month, I need help finding the name of the Unknown Westmoreland-556 . I am assisting this family in researching their Family History, and since my experiences here at WikiTree have been so favorable on my own Personal Turner Family History, I started on the Westmoreland and Bobo lines last year. I have been able to find Eliza Westmoreland-522, mother of Unknown Westmoreland-556 in Calhoun County MS Census Records in 1920, with her 2nd husband and other children.  I need her oldest sons name, Westmoreland-556, and his fathers name.  Upon looking you will see, I have already found his siblings names and have information on each of them.  , as well as his Mother's 2nd marriage in Marshall County, MS.

Even though I know Unknown Westmoreland-556 children and descendants, none living can help with this information.

This Unknown Westmoreland-556 son of Eliza Westmoreland-522 and Unknown?? was a brother to Johnny Dink, Mattie, and Anna Westmoreland.

Eliza Westmoreland-522 and her other children were found in 1880 Census in Calhoun County, MS as servants.*"https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M4G9-ZKH."
This Unknown Westmoreland-566 was already not living with his mother at this time.

There is a J. Westmoreland (born Mississippi 1893), on the 1900 census, living with his grandparents in Monroe, Arkansas. He has two siblings and several cousins also living there. 1900 census link

If this is the right person, then his mother would have been a daughter of Allen and Amanda Bounds. The Bounds family are living in Calhoun, Mississippi in 1880, and their daughter Mary E born in 1873 could possibly have married your unknown Westmoreland. 1880 census link

A bit more on this family now, found on Ancestry.

John's brother Hosea Westmoreland completed a WW2 draft registration card in 1942 and named his contact as Mrs Arvesta Wilbon, no relationship was shown.

There is an entry in the Social Security Claims index for Arvester Wilbon, born 19 March 1894, Clindon, Arkansas, (should maybe be Clinton), father Irving Westmoreland, mother Etter Bounds. Arvester died in St Louis, Missouri in 1982.

Irving Westmoreland is living in Marshall, Mississippi in 1880 with his grandparents Norton and Ann Rogers, So could they have been Eliza's parents? 1880 census

Carol Keeling, , thanks for the information. This J Westmoreland was born in 1893 in MS. (We already know that unknown Westmoreland was born before 1880 when his mother Eliza was found in the Calhoun County Census with her younger children. She then married George Shaw in 1881 and later is found in 1890, 1900 in Calhoun County, MS, and 1920 Husband  George Shaw and sons family in Tunica County, MS.. Eliza died prior to 1920, George Shaw died  after 1920 in Shelby TN. )  the dates on this J Westmoreland do not match even closely. If it was possibly Johnny D. he was born in 1876 in MS.)
Carol, in checking on the  ages of the Bounds family possibly being parents of Eliza Westmoreland, I find that Eliza was older than either of these Allen and Amanda, so they could not possibly be her parents.  Eliza did have a daughter that married Reden Bounds born in Calhoun County, MS , and they are found in Calhoun County, MS  Census for 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930.

Thanks for that tibit to follow up on!

Deborah, the J Westmoreland that I thought might be yours on the 1900 census is the son of your Unknown Westmoreland. On his profile, he is shown as John Westmoreland, born 1892 Mississippi.

And it was Norton and Ann Rogers that I thought might be Eliza's parents, but as you have Eliza was born in 1857, Ann would have been too young to be her mother.

Just wondered if maybe Allen Bounds and Reden Bounds were brothers. I can't find them together on the 1860 census, and by 1870 Allen was already married.  Maybe another avenue to explore.

Thanks for the quick reply Carol, WE do know that on the census records it shows that ELiza's was born in MS but where either of her parents were born she did not know.  Her three children all born in MS and both their parents shown as born in Miss.  So we know Unknown Westmoreland  born in Miss. maybe @1851-53.
AS to the Bounds name. Redden Bounds was born abt 1853 in MS according to the 1870 Calhoun County, MS Census records, as well as his older sister Caroline/Charlotte and his younger brother Willie.  His Mother Cilla was a servant to Henry and wife Mourning Bounds.  Cilla Bounds was listed as Black born in NC abt 1825.  Her three children are shown as Mulatto all born in MS.  Cilla was brought to MS by Mourning Bounds race white. It is very possible that Henry Bounds race white was the father of The three children.
