Greer Family in Quebec Mystery

Here is my frustrating problem. John Greer, also spelled Grier, Greur. died at Quebec before his wife's second marriage in 1865. He was alive in 1851 because he was at the baptism of his daughter Ann.

I need some suggestions.

I cannot find John Greer's death register although I checked all of St Patrick, St Roch and Notre Dame Quebec plus the Presbyterian records or in the United States.

I cannot find the family in the 1861 census. I cannot find Mary Mcrorey Greer O'Brien (her second marriage to Alexandre O'Brien) in the 1871 census. I find her son Edward at Stoneham in the 1881 census.

Just need some fresh eyes to give some suggestions.

Thanks,

Cyndie

thanks
