No notification to profile manager when G2G question is created?

+9 votes
A little while ago I asked a question about a profile for which the New Netherland Settlers project is a manager, and I added a link to the profile. After creating the question, I placed a profile message on another relevant profile, with a link to my question, so managers of that profile (which also include the NNS project account) would be made aware of the question.

To my surprise, the NNS project account did not receive a notification that the question was created, but it was notified about the message I had added to the second profile.

When we create G2G discussions to discuss a particular profile, shouldn't the profile managers be notified? (Didn't it used to work this way?)

Did you put the profile ID in the appropriate field, towards the bottom of the question box?
Yes, the profile ID was in the correct box. In fact, I asked the question using the link on the profile page that automatically populates that box.
They appear in the feed but I don't think they ever generated immediate email alerts.

Answers and comments get mailed out to other participants in the thread.  Answers (not comments) appear in the feed for the linked profile.

Often the entire thread runs without the PM being aware of it.
To compensate, the option to post public comments on a profile is open only to logged-in members, while the option to Ask a Question about a profile in G2G is open to the world of Anonymous competitors to the Suggestions Report.
Well, I started a G2G to create a single discussion for the people interested in two profiles. I figured that linking the discussion to one profile would generate a message to the PMs of that profile, but it seems I need to post a message on the profile, too. Generates clutter...
