Questions about the relationship calculator.

Question

Mindwell Moore b.1643 (Moore-5371) is my 8th great-grandmother. This relationship is shown correctly if I follow all my relatives between my profile and her's.  However, when I use the WikiTree relationship calculator it says "Mindwell More is the great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grand mother of ...". Is that one too many greats? Is it possible that there is more than one way to make this connection: a double grandparent? Can the WikiTree relationship calculator report multiple connections between two profiles?

 

There appears to be an extra 'great' being reported for all my great-grandparents. I don't know if there is a problem in how I have entered my family information, or if this is a problem in the relationship calculator.

 

I thought WikiTree had a way to show each ancestor between two profiles, but I can't find it now.

Thank you for reporting this Rick. We're working on fixing it.

By the way, we don't show each connection if there's a direct ancestral relationship between the two people. That is, if they're being connected through a common ancestor, we show each person's connection to the common ancestor, but if one person is the other's ancestor, we don't show each step. I suppose we could if people would find that valuable.

The bug with extra "greats" should now be fixed.

I'll put tracing the relationships to direct ancestors on the to-do list. I'm not sure when we'll be able to get to it, though.

Rick, the Relationship Finder has now been improved so that it includes the ancestor trail on direct ancestral relationships.

It seems to be an error in the calculator, I get an extra great as well.  Grandfather shows OK, his father is then great, great grandfather instead of great grandfather.

Do you mean tree view to show your ancestor tree?
