what is the meaning of a (+) or (-) on the "votes"

You can add a vote or subract a vote. You you agree with what was said or want to support a member using the up arrow will show as +1, if it was 0. I you disagree then the down arrow will turn a 0 into a -1. If it was +1 when you voted it down it would return to 0.

The number is the culmulative votes.

Essentially, if you like a post you can click the "up" arrow which gives a +1 or the "Down" arrow which gives a -1.
