Can someone please delete Category: Quaker Burial Ground, Guildford, Virginia

Question

I created this cemetery and then realized that I had misspelled it.  I made the correction but now I have both.  This one (the one spelled Guildford) is incorrect and needs to be deleted.  I could not see how to do this so I need a little help.  Thanks.

It is now awaiting deletion by edit bot.

This is done by adding {{Delete Category}} to the text field, i.e. an "edit".

Have a look ( if it is still there).

It is best to make sure nothing is linked to the category first - there's a button down the bottom to use for that: "what links here?".

Old categories never die - they just become unused and fade away... (sounds rather poetic?)

But I believe this is the gist of things. I would recommend commenting on the wrong one to indicate that it is a misspelled category and not to be used. I believe if no one has used it for a long period of time and there are no profiles in it, then it will be "cleaned up" at some point in the future during a system maintenance. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

"Bad" categories used to be replaced by a "Misnamed Category" template, but now they are really deleted. Bad categories should be renamed and merged (so that EditBot can move the profiles under them) and then the old category really gets deleted.

The last "Misnamed Category" disappeared this week. The Misnamed Categories category itself has been deleted. And the project pages are being updated.

Please do not use the {{Misnamed Category}} template, or put categories in a [[Category: Misnamed Categories]] any more !

Yes, absolutely! You can use {{Delete Category}} or {{Rename Category|New Category}} or {{Merge Category|New Category}}.
