Are GEDCOM imports with no death more private than necessary?

This profile is of someone born in the 1870s and not marked as deceased. It was imported via a GEDCOM last year. Its privacy is such that it shows up in its parents' list of children simply as Private son 1870s-unknown. It took a lot of ingenuity to coax WikiTree into divulging the Id.

Please tell me that the new GEDCOM upload process would have marked him no more restrictively than Public.
