Hello WikiTreers,

The England Project is looking for people who are interested in England, have English Ancestors, or who would just like to come and help in the project.

Our project members are dedicated, friendly people whose main goal is to improve, source and generally make sure that England profiles are accurate and presented to a high standard, which honours the person.

It doesn't matter if you are an experienced WikiTreer or have just joined and are still finding your way around, you will be given as much support as you need whilst you get used to the intricacies of English records and the nuances of the towns and cities.

Your first stop would be our newly formed Orphans Team, where you would work on England orphaned profiles that are in need of some TLC. Hone your skills and maybe learn new ones, as you settle in and meet our members. From there the sky is the limit. We have a number of sub projects which you could join, from helping with a county or working on profile improvement by sourcing, connecting and biography writing to develop profiles of a high standard.

Remember, every snippet of sourced information added to a profile brings it to life.

You will be awarded the United Kingdom badge when you join and also be invited to join our google group.

Follow the tags for United_Kingdom and England so you can keep up to date.

If you are new to WikiTree and have not become a full member, you will need to volunteer and sign our Honor Code to receive your wiki genealogist badge, which is a necessity for editing profiles.

Remember, you can still use the {{England Sticker}} for people born in England and {{English Ancestor Sticker}} on your own profile.

If this opportunity interests you, then please click the ANSWER button.

P.S. Check out our England Project page to learn more.

PLEASE NOTE THIS THREAD IS NOW CLOSED. TO JOIN THE ENGLAND PROJECT PLEASE GO HERE: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/612872/how-to-join-the-england-project

I've been doing family history for years in the US. Recently
found parish records in Kent and Somerset that I feel sure
are my Tilly/Tilley ancestors. I have access to site that
I can access old British Asles records. Willing to contribute
and discuss genealogy.

Yes, I'd like to join. My paternal line (Prickett) came from England to New Jersey, probably in the 1680s and my father's paternal grandmother's family (Jackson) are thought to have migrated from  England (Nottinghamshire) to Long Island via New England. Also have Fones and Winthrop ancestors from London & other points.

I would like to be a part of the England Project and possibly the UK Project as well.

My family history comprises of Ancestors in all parts of the UK, but   mostly from England in these shires, Somerset, Surrey, Dorset, Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire, Suffolk and Durham.

As far as the UK goes, my family has history in all areas.

Cheers

I recently was awarded a badge for the United Kingdom Project, however, I am most interested in the England Project and working with the Orphans Team. My years of research has been with my childrens' paternal grandmother's family lines; De Mohun (Moon in America), Gifford and Foster, and all family lines/surnames that married into these families.
by Sandie Schwarz G2G6 Mach 2 (28.7k points)
The United Kingdom badge encompasses England, and you have joined our Google group :)

I will resend the 2nd message I sent to you, maybe it went astray somehow.

Please add me to the England project.  My Dad was English and I have lots of history on his Dad's side but am struggling with his Mum's.  Hopefully I can find a few more connections.

I am Shari (Linton) Brewster (Linton1392 Wikitree). My family lines originate in England and Scotland. My frustration with research is the number of people in records that bear the same Christian and Surname but are apparently not related. It is like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes to locate a family member. As I research my family I am becoming more familiar with different counties and how to find records that match (eg baptism records and censuses). One needs to be meticulous about matching dates and districts. I am excited about the England Project and hope I can communicate/collaborate with other genealogists (who knows, we may discover we are related!)

Hi Shari, We look forward to having you join the project.

Please include me in the England Project.  I am especially interested in East Anglia - and have spent years researching my ancestors ( who from 1800 onwards mainly lived in Southern England ).

Hi - I am fortunate to be able follow all 8 of my great-grandparents back hundreds of years. Quite a number of our ancestors are Puritans from Dorset as well as other parts of England and Wales. I'm hoping to sort out some of the confused profiles and dead ends that have blocked my working back with confidence. If I can help others by taking over some orphaned profiles I am happy to do so. I've picked up a few as I started adding relatives anyway ;)

I would be interested in this group since I’ve bern researching our family history and should have input to offer on Alley family from Exeter and Poole family from Cornwall. both families who lived in England before migrating to Canada.

P.s. I will need your Wiki ID to be able to do that please, as I can only see your IP address.

May I join the project too? I have pre-1500 cert, and have a ton of Northumerland profiles, that might be better categorized with your project.
