What to do in Salt Lake City

I have some non Genealogical questions.

Next week I am coming to RootsTech to Salt Lake City, and I will stay there for another week with my family.

Questions:

  • How is shopping in SLC? My wife wants to know.
  • We intend to visit NBA basketball game. There are 2 in that time. On FRIDAY MAR 02 Utah Jazz vs  Minnesota TimberWolves and on MONDAY MAR 05  Utah Jazz vs Orlando Magic. Which game do you think will be better to watch?
  • We are going skiing the second week. How are the snow conditions and which resort would be good? Can we reside in SLC and drive to the ski slopes each day or is that to far? Brighton ski resort was already recommended to me.
  • How is sightseeing in SLC?

I’m sad I won’t be there to meet you Aleš. Maybe next year. :-)
Oh, Man I wished I saw when you first posted it, I could have told you lots of stuff to do in Salt Lake, Out side Roots tech.  I hope you had fun.
I asked this last year, but next year I will probably be there again. So if you have anything to add not mentioned in other posts, please do.

For sightseeing, I recommend the Beehive House, one of the LDS (Mormon) historical sites. It's been many years since I visited, so I don't know what it's like now, but it was a very interesting experience. (And I think admission is free.)

And the Great Salt Lake is a must-see!

There is a mall a few blocks from RootsTech. It just opened a few years ago and I've heard it is nice. https://www.shopcitycreekcenter.com/

As for sightseeing - a lot of it is Mormon history stuff. Temple Square is also a few blocks away from RootsTech. https://www.templesquare.com/

Since Utah is so Mormon there are weird alcohol laws and some places are closed on Sunday.

I don't know anything about skiing but there is a graphic here where you can see how far the ski resorts are from the airport. https://www.skiutah.com/

Thanx,

are there any shopping outlets there? My wife heard there are.
It looks like there is an outlet at Park City. https://www.tangeroutlet.com/parkcity/stores

And it looks like there is also an outlet in Lehi, which is like 45 minutes south. https://www.outletsattraversemountain.com/

If you go to Lehi there is a pretty neat dinosaur museum, if you like that sort of thing. https://www.thanksgivingpoint.org/experience/museum-of-ancient-life/
My daughter will like that. Thx.

I'd go for Jazz v Timberwolves. The Magic are terrible this year, while the Wolves are pretty good.

Re skiing - I'm actually going to be out there in early March for skiing. I went last year for the first time and skied Park City and Snow Basin. Both were good but I really loved Snow Basin. Longer drive though. I hope to ski Snowbird and Alta this year. Which area you will like the most may depend on what level of skier you are. I haven't checked the snow conditions, but they always get plenty of snow there. The ski areas are definitely close enough to Salt Lake City to stay in SLC and do day trips to the areas -- eg only like 30-45 minutes away form Park City Mountain.

Got the tickets.

But I am not sure, how TICKET DELIVERY: Go Mobile works. I can't install the application since I am not from US or Canada. I should be able to show it from browser, but I need internet access for  that. Do they have WiFi at the entrance or will I have to use mobile data roaming?

Can you screenshot the barcode / QR code and save as a picture? Then you won't need internet.

The American bison - as called Buffalo,

This looks interesting, but seems more appropriate for the summer.
The bison's winter coat is glorious ! Summers they shed .
