Hi Howard, haven't found info on organizations, but I found this obituary on him, you may want to verify date of death as this has it May 16, 2007.

Hey, Howard. Me, again.

"F&AM" = Free & Accepted Masons, the full name for the Masonic order. Lodge #76 F&AM is probably https://www.facebook.com/ApalachicolaLodge76/.

"33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason" The Scottish Rite was established to continue a 3rd degree Mason's education through the 32nd degree. A 33rd degree is an honorary degree, commonly awarded for merit. There is also a similar "York Rite."

"Shaddai Shrine Temple." One of many Masonic Shrine Temples. Shriners were origanally organized for fun (among Masons), but most (if not all) Shriners are now involved in charity work, many for children's hospitals, etc.

"District Deputy Grand Master, master of Apalachicola for two years." Each Masonic lodge has a Master (Worshipful Master) and appoints other members as deputies, etc. At district and higher regional and organizational levels, the titles include Grand Master, etc. Alton was apparently appointed deputy to the district Grand Master.

"OES Gorrie Chapter 192." OES = Order of the Eastern Star, an organization associated with the Masons, open to men and women. Their functions are primarily based on teachings of the Christian Bible (e.g., "Eastern Star" = "the star in the East"), but all religions are accepted. Local officers include Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron. District and higher officers have titles such as "Most Worthy Matron/Patron," etc.
