I agree, these seem to be the same person.  I checked the relevant acts in LAFRANCE, and the result is a bit confusing.  The marriage act lists her as Tecier, but her name on the baptisms of her children have her name as Terillon or a spelling variant.  Gagné lists her as Térillon.

Fichier Origine doesn't seem to have an entry for her, so it's likely that her baptism has yet to be found.  Gagné only had an estimated year of birth.

The profile states that the contract has her name as Tessier, and the act itself uses Tecier.  I'm thinking Tessier is probably the best guess for the LNAB, as usually in these cases we would want to look to the earliest record available.  We could treat Térillon as a dit name.

oh sure, there are lots of Tessier, but there are also other Terillon/Terion.  She does not come from the same area as the Tessier you mention, she comes from Troyes, in Champagne.  I just found evidence that the name Terrillon existed in Troyes:

Hi Danielle: Good work finding where Genevieve is from. I see that Nos Origines has the information, but they rarely give sources.  Where did you find the information?

I see there are lots of Terrillons there and some Terriers.  Interesting, as I had always had her as Terrillon in my own family tree.  I found her in Nos Origines a few years ago. I don't usually give them a lot of credit.

I don't see the baptism we are after, but certainly enough evidence for the last name.

her origin is given on her marriage record.  there are also some Terion before the Terillon.  Just don't know which parish she was in, there are several in Troyes and that site keeps giving me only that listing that includes several parishes.  :(  And since we don't actually know the year of birth, and that thing lists no parents, don't quite know how to proceed to find her.  Need help from our friends in French roots project.  They are more familiar with how things are set up over there.

I've scrounged around the Department of Aube website. There are 10 year tables for all the parishes of Troyes. I couldn't find Genevieve in the 1641-1650 nor the 1651-1660 baptism tables. See here: http://www.archives-aube.fr/ark:/42751/s005568329b319e0/5568329b4b4d7 (Archives de l'Aube, Etat civil de la ville de Troyes. Saint-Denis. 1651-1660 pg. 165). However, there is a lot of Terrier and Terrillon names. There are no Tessier last names. I wonder if she had either of these names and then upon arriving on Quebec was called Tessier because of the prevalence of the name.  Migrations.fr has her from Saint-Nizier. I went through the baptismal records for Saint-NIzier from 1652-1654 and didn't find her.  Also of note is that St-Nurel doesn't exist, at least regarding the Archives de l'Aube so I'm not sure where that came from.  Sad to not figure this out but am leaning towards having Terrillon as LNAB and Tessier as "other last name". Just my two cents though.

I also went through the original baptismal records for any parish in addition to St-Nazier in Troyes that had them available for 1653 and looked between 1652-1654 and couldn't find her anywhere.

I agree with Kyla, Terillon is much more common in Troyes than Tessier.

Is the image of the marriage contract available? I assume that is where the information about Saint-Nizier comes from, and it could give other hints.

The name of her mother is also unclear. I think Vériot is just another bad reading of Térion and should be dismissed. However Gauvre does not seem to be common in Troyes.

I think we're still at the same point - there is no remaining trace of her or her parents in France. That leaves two solutions - leave the merge pending or use the spelling in the earliest primary document that mentions her.

ok, Migrations site got the St-Nizier from Yves Landry, who doesn't cite where he got particular data along the way in his listing.  Have uploaded her marriage record to her profile.  It is unfortunately the copy that was sent to central registry and not the one kept in the church, there's not a single signature of witnesses anywhere on the page.  They weren't all illiterate by a long shot.  And FamilySearch have the same thing, that's where Migrations site get their copies and it is identical.

Don't know where the extra name Jeanne comes from for her mother, Barbe Gauvre appears to be the best reading of her name on marriage record.  Maybe you can read it differently.  

Guess I have another contract to check up in archives downtown.  sigh.  One of these days I actually will get down there.
