obituary
(a pioneer woman went home)
Died on Sunday, November 23th 1873,
in the evening, 50 past 8, our precious, much-
loved wife, mother and grand-mother.
Katharina Schulz, born Amis
at the age of 58(?) years, 7 months and 8 days,
born in (illegible, maybe Annweiler?), Rheinpfalz, Bavaria and since 1836 in
America. The funeral is held on Wednes-
day, November 26th 1873, in the afternoon at 1 at
the mourning house, No 666 Central Avenue, to which family,
friends and the St. Johannis (illegible) church
is invited. The funeral speech will be held in "St. Johannis"
church, north west corner of 12th and (??) street.
Friedrich Schulz, husband
John Schulz / Daniel Schulz / Friedrich Schulz / Christina Schulz, children
Christian Amis / Heinrich Amis, brothers
Anna Maria Amis / Sophie Amis, sisters
Anna Schulz / daughter in law, plus grand children
The final piece is a verse that appears in older church song books from central Germany: "O, wer weiß, in welcher stunde uns die letzte stimme weckt; denn Gott hats mit seinem munde keinem menschen noch entdeckt: wer sein haus nun wohl bestellt, geht mit freuden aus der welt; da die sicherheit hingegen ewigs sterben kann erregen.". Hard to translate, and I haven't found a reference to those numbers.
(Annweiler could be https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annweiler_am_Trifels which seems to have belonged to Bavaria from 1816 to 1918)
