I wanted to share this family photo of George Schoonover with the community. Location: Jones County, Iowa. Date: 1888. This boy grew up to become a successful Iowa banker and the father of my mother's mother. He was an investor in the Panama Canal.

Wow, what a look of determination on this young man's face! And it appears to be much more than just a fleeting expression, but rather an indication of deeper countenance and character of indomitable spirit mixed with no patience for suffering fools gladly or otherwise. I can see already his character showing through, indicating this a boy not to be trifled with, nor taken advantage of--or there will surely be consequences. Thank you so much for sharing this photo!
