Using mother's maiden name in the middle name field of their children?

+1 vote
Is it against policy and style to use the mother's maiden name in the profile of their children? Can I get a yes or a no. Thanks

Unless it was the actual middle name I would say No. There were quite a few that did use the mothers maiden name as a middle name and in those cases where you have a source showing that then it is fine but if you just want to add her maiden name there when there is no evidence that it was the actual middle name then it would be false information.

This is what the Style Guide says about this

Middle Name

This should be the full middle name(s).

If you only know a middle initial, use that in its place and mark the status as "uncertain."

If you don't know the middle name, leave it blank.

If you know that the person has no middle name, leave the field blank but make it clear to others that it's not just unknown by marking the status as "no middle name."

Thank you.
