Why does our side of the Moore family tree end up with unknown Moore?

My Mothers maiden name is Moore and we traced it all the way back to an unknown Moore. I was wondering why our Moore path that leads back to Berkshire, UK to John Moore seems to dead end here.. Is there any way to solve this puzzle? I am trying to figure out what happened to my great grandfathers parents, and why they are the unknown Moores. I am googling everything I can google trying to get a tid bit of information about the missing link in our family chain. My grandfather's name was John Moore; born 1587 - 1687. Maybe something strange went on, I think I am figuring out what happened.

Your post is somewhat unclear. What relation is John Moore 1587 to you? Where in your tree do you hit a brickwall? Who is your great grandfather who has the unknown parents?

I have a question that’s not relevant to your question. :-) But I actually have a Moore in my maternal that I’m at a dead end on that was living in the Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma areas. What areas where your Moore’s located?
