How do I connect Pre-1770 Ancestors to my Tee and the Great Wikki Tree?

According to Ancestry. com and extensive matches through Family Trees, my 16th Great-Grandfather was ( Sir ) William Sayer or Sayre. He was born in 1452 in Bedfordshire, England. Two wives are listed, both by the name of Margaret. However , Margret , ( last name unknown ) is listed as my 16th Great-Grandmother and Margaret Sayre is listed as the wife of my 16th Great-Grandfather, As I cannot afford a DNA test at this time, how do I Validate this Connection?

Thank You So Much for any Assistance with this.

Hello Crystal, You should not rely on lineages that you find online without checking that they are appropriately sourced. The best way to validate your connection is to build out your own branches of the tree, adding sources as you go, until you reach a connection to the main tree. Then check that the rest of the lineage from there has also been sourced. If you find a linkage that has no sources then you should do more work to gain evidence that is reliable.

Thank You So Much, Lynda.

A Great Deal of information on gotten on the Couch Family Line came from a book about First Familes/ Founding Fathers of Fairfield , CT. I just can't remember the actual title. I also have a Cousin whom is a Genealogist and has done extensive Research. However , we are 1st Cousins 6 or 7 times removed so her Research branches  off after the Couch / Crane Connection. I do know the Couch and Wheeler Families were very Prominent in Early Connecticut History,   as Simon Couch is listed as a Founding Father in the Fairfield / Redding Area.
If your family were prominent then you may find that there are already existing profiles for several of them on Wikitree that you will be able to connect up to. Try doing a search on the Couch name to see if you see any familiar profiles.
Thank You, Lynda.

I've been trying to propose merges and I'm not getting responses from Profile Managers. I will keep trying though.

I Appreciate Your Response.
