I am a historian writing about the life of Johan Martin Greiner, a glassblower at the Newburgh (NY) Glassworks during the years before the American Revolution. I wish to learn his hometown in Germany, his religion, possibly documentation of his passage from Rotterdam to New York in 1752, and any other good info! Thank you.

Thank you, Laura, I am thrilled with this answer. I have written about the Huguenot settlers in the Hudson River Valley and am a docent at Historic Huguenot Street museum, so the French connection is extra exciting. Anna

Anne I also know (because we have donated so much) there is a lot of information about French and American glass and crystal makers housed at the Corning Museum of Glass Rakow Library.

Another source might be the Archivist at St Louis-Crystallerie in Bitche Moselle Lorraine France.  http://www.saint-louis.com/en/projects/contact-us.html

Another great source for colonial glassmakers is Wheaton Village archivist. mail:mail@wheatonarts.org Don't know if that is still Diane, but I know they have some Stenger (became Stanger in US and all the stuff that says they came from Dornighen or some such rot is just plain wrong.  We have the full genealogies, the birth records, handwriting analysis and more to prove Solomon Stanger and his family came from Moder Sur Model.  Luc Stenger has done extensive work on this and has lectured at Llalique and other places in France.  He is also an officer for a World Heritage site for Vallerystal Glass Works).  Even the profile here on WikiTree is wrong and we have contacted the PM tot try to get them to correct it.

Why was this flagged?  I would like an explanation since I am helping her get the information requested.   We have not created this profile yet.
for Penne-22. Please forgive me, Penne-22, if I offended you. I am new to this website and have no idea what a flag means. I hit that while looking for a way to answer the emails I have received from Laura and 2G2. So, no negativity intended! Anna

No problem it is confusing because it means abuse here and sometimes good things on other sites
