Long story, but my ex-husband and father of my children was born to a mother considered "simple," so he was put in the custody of his grandmother, Mary Lillie. She died when he was eleven and he bounced around from couch to couch, etc. even though his parents later married and had like 6 more kids who lived with them, whatever. So who was this grandmother? No record. I found the grandfather, but the grandmother said he may not have been the father of her son (my ex's father). I always thought she was probably just messing with people. My daughter tested her DNA and I still think Miss Mary Lillie was messing with everyone. Anywho, my ex's father passed last month, which is sad even though the last time I saw him, he had his hands around my throat and was choking me. I just found his obit and it names his mother, all his bro's and sisters. I knew some of them, but some had died young. At any rate, I found Mary Lillie in the 1940 Census! No mother, but I know her father and some sisters now.
