If a profile doesn't have an edit toolbar, is there a way to easily add one?

While doing editing, I have noticed some profiles that don't show an edit toolbar over the biography and sources area.

Is there a way to easily add one or should I make a note regarding the profile and post the issue somewhere for someone else to fix? As a newbie, I really appreciate the edit toolbar when it is there.

Thanks

To clarify, this has shown up on open profiles when I am on the Edit page correcting minor errors - such as this past week when correcting locations for the data doctor challenge. I'll make a note of the next one I find as an example.

Are you are talking about this edit toolbar or the edit tab?

And please let me know which profiles this occurs on so I can look into it.

Sounds like the browser is glitching.
Yes, it is the toolbar shown in the screenshot from Jamie Nelson.

I can go back through the profiles I've edited and see if it happens again. I am using Google Chrome as a browser on my laptop and have done some using Safari on my iPad. I don't remember if it has come up on both browsers or not.

If I see another one I will first check it with another browser - then notify you if that doesn't fix it.

I probably won't be able to really look into it for about 4 hours.
You know, this has happed to me with firefox, just a very few times, like two or three times in two years.

I don't remember if it went away if I just closed the edit mode and went back later, or if I re-started the browser. I do know that it didn't happen again and again on a few profiles, always the same. So if your problem really acts like that, it may be something else.

If a profile doesn't show an edit bar, I think that means that either you aren't logged in or the privacy level for the profile is set so it can only be edited by persons on the Trusted List for the profile.

Emily, I suspect the problem is the "view" that you are in.  If you go to your own profile with the edit bar, the first tab says "Profile (Public view)."  When you click it the edit options disappear; this is what someone who is not a wikitree member sees when they land on the page.  Click on the "Return to private view" link and everything returns to normal.

On a profile, with an open setting, this is what you see and any member that has signed the Honor code can edit the profile.image With a tight privacy setting this is what you see and have to be the profile manager or added to the trusted list to be able to edit the profile: 500px-D_Selman_s_Photos-2.png

It's not this bar though, it's the one above the edit box  with "Bold"  "Italic" and "Cite" etc. It used to happen to me on Firefox before I got a new computer. Sometimes the buttons would eventually show up, whilst I was working.

Try clearing your browser's cache. If that does not work clear your cookies.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

I do think this was more than likely a browser glitch. I went back through a number of profiles that I had done quick edits to the last couple of days. Some of them it took longer for the Edit Toolbar to show up after I opened the Edit Tab.

I just did a correction on Lytle-864 (Brayton F. Lytle), to correct a reference tag. At first, the edit toolbar did not show up at all, I made the correction, added the findagrave memorial, and deleted the findagrave memorial for his wife. Then I clicked into the comment area to explain the changes I had made. Voila! The edit toolbar appeared. Just now when I went back and opened the Edit Bar again, it was there just above the biography space.
