The current SPAM mail issues

In the last week Wikitree has unfortunately had a spammer doing their stuff by the private messaging system. The team has been doing a great job in trying to stop this spammer as soon as they realise it is happening.

What steps can be taken to reduce the opportunities for this person and any future occurrence.

One thing I have seen asked is if the "bot" challenge question can be varied. It has been "ten" for a while so we need a better option.

Another thing is maybe reducing or having to have messages vetted for any guest members.

What do people think?

5 messages a day max until they've until their profile is "established?"

Admins could look at their profile after a few days, after a week (after a month) and see, have they put some profiles, uploaded a GED, participated in G2G.

If your ability to send emails (more than a few) is tied to participation, it would limit most spammers entirely.
