Question

I entered my grandfather. Cannot add his ancestors. Not on the Trusted List. Owner isn't responding. What next?

Hi David, welcome aboard.  Are you saying that there are already profiles for your grandfather's ancestors for which you're not on the trusted list?  If that's the case, you don't need to add profiles for them, but you might have more info or sources to add.  Sometimes it takes a little bit of time for a profile manager to respond, but very few would deny a request from a direct descendant.  If you don't get any response in a reasonable amount of time, try this process:

It appears that you are trying to add ancestors for George, and that his profile manager has not been active for the past year. It also appears that George is set to orange (is it orange?) so that you can't currently add your ancestors. Given that there is an unresponsive PM procedure, you probably   want to begin with that. In the meantime, were it me, I'd find sources for a your great-grandparents and politely post this info in the comment box for your grandfather's profile thus giving this manager the info he might be able to add himself and hopefully make you a co-manager as he does so. Remember he will need your email address to add you. (Some people seem quite possessive of "their" profiles.)

Being somewhat new to this site, I'm wondering why a line can be closed to other people adding to it if it is supposed to be a collaborative tree.

You seem to have encountered an unresponsive profile manager who may be inactive because of reasons beyond his control...if he really isn't active he should actually give up the profiles he agreed to manage. Sorry this is happening to you so early in your experience, but just follow Dennis Barton's suggestions and things will resolve themselves.
