we need to recruit more team members, we only have 10 so far.
by Campbell Braddock G2G6 Mach 8 (81.8k points)
Apparently we have 11 team members - see below.

Lisa Bridson has signed up - according to Eowyn. Can you add Lisa to the team please? Thanks Campbell.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bridson-18

I can send a request to last years team members asking if they want to join us. I will leave them as a comment on their profiles.

Team Tennessee has had some success in their recruiting by doing this.

I think Richard Shelley said in the KC Space comments that he would not be available at all. (20th march)

Lianne also is unable to join us as well - she has family commitments. (6th April)

Lucie was our honourary kiwi and is already on a British team so she is not available. (20th March)

So we have lost 3 of our source-a-thon team members.
OK I have sent out comments to those from last years team - except for the 3 mentioned above and those who have already signed up. Now we await a response.
Sorry chaps, won't be joining you, spending my time in Ireland at the moment
Thanks Valerie
I received one of your invites Robynne, but I had already signed up.
OOPS Sorry Neil. And thanks.
Raewyn Vincent is not available for the clean-a-thon this year.

Looks like we will just have a small team, Campbell.

We will do the best we can and then watch the live hangouts - which I think will be every 4 hours.
Jean Price is not available to join us either.

In terms of what errors we are going to fix up, I think that perhaps we should each start on our own suggestions (errors) from our own watchlists and fix those up first.

Right now I have 160 suggestions and almost 3000 profiles on my watchlist

And then we can tackle any other remaining NZ suggestions. The NZ Database Errors link is on the Kiwi Crew Space page, right above the current clean-a-thon team chart.

How does that sound to you guys?
by Robynne Lozier G2G Astronaut (1.3m points)
I have looked at this and unlike a source-a-thon  'suggestions' cant really be allocated out by surnames or by types. ( as there isnt enough to go around)

We don't have many suggestions directly associated with New Zealand (Profiles with New Zealand in a location field) that are open for editing/correcting.

There are currently around 3800 such 'suggestions', of these 2100 are related to those with a profile first name that is unique in the database that could be an indication of misspelled name (DBE 511) - these could be tackled but they may take some time in which you would have to check/add sources just to tick them off as false.

Of the rest  (of those profiles that are open for editing) - there really is only a few find-a-grave / or Wikidata related differences to be checked.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of suggestions that could be tackled globally. Apart from our own / an then then some of the NZ ones / I would just pick a Data Base Error Code (or a series) that you are comfortable in dealing with and work on those - the chance that two people work on the same profile at that same time are very remote.
There you go then.

I defer to Graeme as the data doctor expert, which is why he is the co-captain for this clean-a-thon.

So team members can do their own suggestions if they wish, otherwise, they are free to pick and choose whatever category of suggestions they want from anywhere they choose.

So how do we find all these suggestions again?

Thanks Graeme.

The magic tool is this page here http://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm

This is thanks to Aleš Trtnik who has programed and runs the suggestions generating servers

It is the direct link for wikitreers into the suggestions data base - on this page are many options for creating reports that you can directly work from (im going to say error reports)

Unlike the reports that are produced once a week (which are static in that is they don't update as a 'suggestion' is cleared) these reports are dynamic and update each time that you refresh or request a report. So any suggestions you or anyone else clears are hidden from the report (unless you request that they show.

If you aren't familiar with it just give it a go and see what you come up with - you cant hurt the data base by requesting reports

Please check the Kiwi Crew Space page for updated access to Error Reports and Suggestions.
as a relative newcomer - I like that tool.

Thanks for organising this :-).  I was going to start on some 802 errors.  It is a shame so many NZ profiles aren't open to editing.

I'll see what I can contribute so I've signed up. My own suggestions list is fairly clean. I thought I'd look at the Unsourced NZ profiles and their suggestions lists and cherry pick the easy ones. I also thought I'd tag associated profiles as unsourced so we have them for later in the year. Does that sound ok?
by Fiona McMichael G2G6 Pilot (209k points)
Sure Fiona, and Thank you very much.

As you can read above, it has been decided that you can pick and choose to work on any category from any country since NZ does not have a lot of "Easy" suggestions.

About tagging unsourced NZ profiles - not that I object, because I dont - but wont those just get done between now and October by either Graeme or the weekend sourcing sprints?

Thanks for agreeing to join us, Fiona.

One last reminder before the clean-a-thon starts - you don't use the tracker at the top of the profile after saving like we did for the SAT. Instead, you use the status button from the error report. Click on the status button after clearing the error, pick the status, click save, and boom, automatic point. Nothing else is necessary for keeping track.

I currently have a backlog of at least 30 corrections I can't enter as the Wikitree.sdmi pages are not loading. Hopefully it gets fixed soon as I am in danger of loosing track of what needs to be entered
by Darren Kellett G2G6 Pilot (430k points)
Yes the server seems to be overloaded. I dont want to do anything because I dont want to have to go back and do these profiles twice!!

We are in 3rd place so far - with 96 errors corrected so far
OK Darren, Isabelle R says its working again. So have at it!!
Yeah just after I posted Aleš sent am email saying it was back working
Ales actually broke the server - he made a change and broke the server!!  LOL

Live chat coming up in 15 minutes - 4 am EDT and 8 pm NZ time.

I will be heading off to bed after the live chat. Hopefully I will be back by 12 noon EDT  and 4 AM NZ time on Sunday!!

Kiwi crew are doing very well - Currently in 3rd place as a team.

If we can stay in 3rd place and stay ahead of the Southern Super Sweepers - that will be GREAT!!

Apologies to my fellow team members. Sadly, due to the imminent event of a close family member, I have to withdraw from the CAT.
by Neil McNicol G2G6 (9.9k points)
THat's OK Neil. Thanks for letting us know.
The suggestions can be done at any time. Your Family member is more important at this this so go be with them.

From 8 to 9 am Sunday, I am doing 1 hour of ranger duty so I wont be doing the CAT - I will be back after my hour is done.
by Robynne Lozier G2G Astronaut (1.3m points)
Ranger duty now over and I am back on the CAT
Been up since 5 and now its Family Time - Ill be back in a few Hours

Have done 10-20 this morning and they aren't showing up in the scores.  Hopefully they will get added at some stage.  Off to do some family stuff, will have more time later :-)
by Lisa Bridson G2G2 (2.1k points)
The tracker updates every 5 minutes - and you are currently sitting on 256

The tracker is working just fine.
It was over 10 mins and hadn't updated. Maybe just overloaded then.  Working fine now :-)

Way to go Crew - we are back up to number 6
by Graeme Olney G2G6 Pilot (143k points)
Going out for a bit so we may drop down the ranks while I am gone. Have gotten about 2/3rds of the way through my first prepared list with only 2 profiles I wasn't able to correct the suggestion as it had already been done.

I'm at 198, now my goal is to pass Lisa :-)

Campbell - now Ill race you to get ahead of Darren :-)
I've passed Lisa now, Darren has 728, over 400 to catch up, the race is on!! :-)

number 5 now

Hans has just pulled out of the CAT because his dog has had to be put down so he is not in a good place right now.

Thanks to Darren, we are now in 5th place!!

GO Darren!!

Go Kiwis!!
by Robynne Lozier G2G Astronaut (1.3m points)
I seem to be tracking between 25% and 33% of the group total so it isn't just me bringing up the numbers. I want to crack 1000 before the 8pm video chat.

:Edit : I did the 1000 mark just before 8 pm
Like I said - Go Darren!!!!  LOL
More family time at my end (2+ hrs) - will see if Campbell can over take me in that time but with Lisa plowing ahead i dought that but either way we have to keep them Nor'easters at bay :-)

We are still 5th overall about 400 behind the Tidying Tornado's and have done over 3000 errors.

On a personal note I am in the top ten again. Still no chance to catch Charlotte who is currently done over 3200 errors.

I'm going to aim for the top 20 and then im off to bed
You have just got there by 1 point. Great job

Its now 0430 EDT Sunday morning in Canada (8.30 AM Sunday night in NZ) and I need to get some sleep - see you guys later.

 Keep up the great work.
by Robynne Lozier G2G Astronaut (1.3m points)
Didn't you read the Captain's instructions. No Sleep is permitted. LOL

Halfway through the Clean-a-than and Kiwi Crew is in third place with 4541 suggestions done. Southern Super Sweepers is just behind us at 4465 and Team GD Gen is in front of us at 5802.

I personally have gotten to 8th position with 1541 suggestions done. I am 100 points behind 7th place with 9th place close behind me.

Do need to try and get some sleep at some stage but don't know when I will.

by Darren Kellett G2G6 Pilot (430k points)
OK I am back up now for a new day and can push myself to do more.

Way to go Darren!!  You are a superstar!!

Reminder that I do have Ranger duty for 2 hours starting at 6 AM NZ time - it starts just over an hour from now and goes for 2 hours. (6-8 AM NZ monday) and that will all my ranger duty DONE for the week!!
