I'm looking to improve the sources linking Almon Bates (Bates-9158) with parents Electa Jewell / Bates / Sylvester (Jewell-181) and Nehemiah Bates (Bates-529). Strictly speaking, I can't paper-trail that any of these three people are in any kind of relation.
There are an enormous number of private family trees repeating this connection, including my own, but I'm looking for a paper trail. There are two sources I don't have easy access to, and I'm wondering:
1) Do we have a wikitreeer living in or about Cherokee, Iowa? Almon Bates' grave is in Oak Hill Cemetary, and has both the date and location of birth on it. Sadly, the findagrave picture is less than tremendously legible. See: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/65529378/a.-b.-bates
2) If anyone has Katherine Rowland's "The pioneers of Winnebago and Boone Counties", it allegedly relates the history of Electa Bates, who moved the family to Winnebago, Illinois upon being widowed. I am wondering if it confirms her husband's or childrens' names. I have an interlibrary loan request in for this one, but it'll take a goodly time to make it through the tubes.
