I am Raymond Charles Brown.  I was born to Harold David Brown, who was born to Charles Nowrey Brown, who was born to Archibald H Brown, ( all born near Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania) who was born to James Brown who came from Ayreshire Scotland with his parents John and Margret Brown in 1827.  I believe that I could be related to this John Brown.

Is this a record for your James Brown?

"Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYZ1-JD4 : 10 February 2018), James Brown, 01 Nov 1826; citing , reference , index based upon data collected by the Genealogical Society of Utah, Salt Lake City; FHL microfilm 1,041,469.

I started a WikiTree line for this family, at least I think it is the right family.  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Brown-73981

I never thought I would find a surname that is harder to research than Smith.  I could be wrong on that.  Brown is pretty tough too.

Lol...I have Brown and Clark I look for.  And even ones that you don't normally think as being difficult - can be.
Well I have Brown  Smith Geeter that turns into Jeter .now the Jeter's were from France ,England , and Ireland whew!

Hi Raymond!  Welcome to the one worldwide WikiTree.

I suggest that you join WikiTree and enter your data as you know it.  Ask for help if you need it here on G2G.

I also suggest that you do a YDNA37 marker test and join the Brown DNA study:  https://www.familytreedna.com/public/BrownDNAStudy

A YDNA test will narrow your research to your genetic line of Brown men, and then you can ignore all the other Brown lines in the world.  If you order a yDNA 37 marker test through this link, WikiTree will receive a small gratuity for the reference. (WikiTree is free to use, but not free to operate, so these little gratuities help keep WikiTree free to use.)

No relation to this John Brown.  This John's sons, James and Matthew,  traveled to America without parents by way of Ireland in 1720.
