GEDCOM and image uploading offline; server upgrade today

Hi WikiTreers,

GEDCOM and image uploading will be offline for about an hour starting now.

This is part of an important server upgrade. (For those technically inclined: We are updating the version of the PHP programming language that we use.)

The upgrade itself should happen in about one hour (about 1pm or 1:30pm Eastern US time) and should be practically invisible. And there won't be visible changes to the site or new features. But, some features will run more efficiently, the security will be stronger, and this upgrade will enable us to move forward on some other things we have been waiting to do, such as upgrading the software for this forum.

Although we have done a lot of careful preparation, there are almost certain to be little bugs and issues that only emerge as members are using the site. If you notice something -- anything odd or problematic -- please report it here by commenting or answering below. Thank you!

Onward and upward,

Chris

It doesn't seem to be just images and GEDCOMs.  I tried to do a merge and it said "merging is temporarily unavailable."  Glad to know it wasn't just me, then. :o)

I'm noticing that the feeds like PGM activity feed, instead of saying so and so edited the biography or edited the data, they all say edited the data. I liked it the other way.

Good catch! We'll get that fixed. Thanks, Anne.

I'm not sure this one is related to the recent change or not, but there is something awry with the search function.

I was searching for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Doane-11 b. about 1590

Search for John Doane then filter by birth date he doesn't show up.
Search for John Done then filter by birth date he shows up

His son John Doane Jr shows up in both searches.

I had something similar happen a couple of days ago, but couldn't pin point what happened.

This was discussed on another thread last week. It's not new.

If you get more than 100 results, the 100 cut-off doesn't work the way you want.  Sorting by date doesn't get you the first 100 by date.
