Merging Wallwik-14 and Claesson_Wallwik-1

Question

I just created Wallwik-14 by mistake for Jöns Classon Wallwik. He already existed as Claesson_Wallwik-1, but I missed that since I searched for Wallwik and not "Claesson Wallwik". (I put that patronymic as a middle name instead, as I've seen recommended somewhere for Scandinavians with both a patronymic and a "real" surname.

When I discovered my mistake I naturally wanted to immediately merge my mistake into the existing person, but then I of course got warnings about merging people with different surnames and that I should make sure to merge in the right direction after being sure what the surname really should be. So what should I do? Should I merge the old profile into my mistake because it's better to have just Wallwik as surname?

I would say that the merge should be into Wallwik-14 and Claesson should be added to the field for "Middle name".

I adopted the other profile and suggested the merge, it needs to be approved by you as manager of Wallwik-14.

There seems to be something odd about merging the profiles, I don't get the suggestion into which profile to merge, no message on either of the profiles so I made it an "Unmerged Match" for now.

I know the system recently was updated, there might be some hickups, let's check in the merge tomorrow again. You can still go ahead and add info and sources to any of the profiles.

Edit: Jag glömde nämna, märk gärna en fråga som den här med  taggen "Sweden" också, då uppmärksammas din fråga av alla som har intresse av frågor som rör Sverige på något sätt. Vi är några stycken svenskar här som brukar kunna svara på frågor.

Håller med Maggie om att mergen ska gå in i Wallwik-14 .

Det ser ut som om den unmergade matchen går in i fel profil nu, så ni får se upp när ni fullbordar den.

Man får se upp med dessa gamla profiler som är inlagda (ofta GEDCOM-importerade) med Patronym_Familjenamn som Last Name at Birth. När det gäller adel, präster och relaterade, så är det väldigt många personer som redan finns i WikiTree, med mer eller mindre korrekta namn och data.

Jag har faktiskt kontaktat Jamie Nelson, det ser ut som det här är ett fel som rapporterades i en annan tråd och hon ville gärna kika på det om det hände igen. Så jag föreslår att vi väntar lite med att slå ihop profilerna tills hon hunnit kika på den och kanske hon gör mergen åt oss.
