GEORGE GORDON, 15th Earl of Sutherland, PC (S 1689); born 2 Nov 1633; Lord Privy Seal Scotland 1656; obtained a regrant of the Earldom 24 June 1681 with remainder to his eldest son and himself and the heirs male of both his and his eldest son's bodies, in default of which, to the heirs female of his eldest son's body without division and their heirs male; Commr Gt Seal Scotland 1689;
married 11 Aug 1659 Jean (died 5 Jan 1715), widow of Archibald, Earl of Angus (see HAMILTON and BRANDON, D), and eldest daughter of 2nd Earl of Wemyss (see WEMYSS and MARCH, E), and died 4 March 1702/3, leaving, with at least one dau, (Anne married 3 May 1683 3rd Viscount of Arbuthnottqv)
