I am Samuel Cortenus Gore, Jr.  My father, Samuel Cortenus Gore, Sr (deceased 1992 at age 76) was born and lived for some time in Little River, SC in Brunswick County, NC.

He had 6 Brothers and Sisters.  Many are buried at the Cemetary adjacent to the Methodist Church in Little River.  Several Gores, including a Cortenus Gore fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War.  A Samuel Gore is also listed as a passive participant in the Boston Tea. Party.

W.C. Gore was my husbands Great x 2 Grandfather. His daughter, Mary Sarah Gore, married John William Humphrey. They had a daughter, Mary Eloise Humphrey  that married Joseph Gowan Brown & had a son Dixon Gowan, my husband. I have some info. on the Gores, & would be glad to send you what I have. Hello cousins - I’m a descendant of WC Gore’s daughter Selena via her marriage to William Bellamy. WC Gore enlisted on his 18th birthday on Sept 11, 1863. He was wounded and captured at Fort Fisher in February 1865. Released in May 1865 after confinement at Point Lookout, MD.
