Mary Ann Cowen's Mother

The Mother of Mary Ann Cowen (Cowen-420) was the convict Mary Bleeze (nee Walker) born in Staveley, Devonshire in 1805, and transported to Tasmania (VDL) arriving May 9, 1831 aboard the America. She died October 13, 1885. She married Thomas Wilken Cowen in 1836 in Hobart Tasmania.  Thomas was born in Birmingham England, May 30 1799 and convicted at the Lancaster Assizes July 17 1820.  He was transported to Tasmania (VDL) with a 7 year sentence.
