this one post has Ringerik spelled three ways.   Ringerik, Ringerike, Ringerrike   which one is correct (even though this says it's possibly a fictitious person... I would like to be able to spell it correctly.
closed with the note: I found the spelling myself on Wikipedia.   It's Ringerike.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ringerike_(traditional_district)

Please link to the profile in question so we can see context.  Principle is to use their convention -- how it was spelled by the local community at the time of the event(s).

I understand (from an answer)  it's NOT a city... but that wasn't the question... I understand now that it's a "district".   Please excuse the error but this is one heck of a learning curve right now.   I only want to get the spelling correct...

Well, if we are to be correct, the country should not be Norway but Norge. But since I sincerely doubt there was a country actually called Norge or Norway in the year 450 the spelling really don't matter.

At least in Sweden there was not a united country that early, there were local chiefs and what they themself called their region we will never know exactly.

If we are to be really, really correct he was never called Halfdan the old, in old norse he would be Hálfdanr gamli or Hálfdanr inn gamli.

Snorre Sturlasson who wrote these sagas/legends is said to have lived abt 1179-1241 and he writes about persons several hundred years before him.

Just add the templates for Uncertain Existence and Norse Mythology and don't bother with any spelling is my advice. Alternatively, you could go all in,  delete all connections to family members and only link to them in the biography, telling the which Norse legend he is included in and who the author of the saga/legend is. Example profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Arimathea-11

THANK you so much for great information and I will fix my files.  I appreciate complete answers like this.  It shows that I'm not the only soul seeking the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say.
My Sincere thanks

Ringerike is not a city. It is a kommune (district) which is currently in Buskerud county. In olden times it covered a larger area.
