Have been told by his sister who is still living.
he was in the army this is the first time I'm hearing of it.
Have been in touch  with the ADF they say they say they have several. Maurice Daniel Halls and i would have to apply for those files! Problem is if i apply for of them and none are him I've wasted several hundred dollars.
Thaks in advance

Hi Robynne,

If you've been in touch with the ADF I'm going to assume you've trawled this site:

which is currently down for maintenance so I can't do a cursory check now.  If he served 1950-1960 I think it includes Korea (if he went there).

Do you have a full DOB or only a partial?

If you only have a partial (hence the ADFs advice there are several entries) and you have the names of his parents, how about doing a search for his birth via Trove:

From there, you can get back in touch with the ADF citing a full DOB and place of birth.

Apologies if you've done this already.  I'm working on the information you've provided in your original question.

All the best,

p.s. if he has a living sister, assume you have a full DOB??

Hi Tamara!
Thanks for your reply
His full name is Maurice Daniel Hall jr born july 1935  died may 2008. Married Patricia Lorraine Lowe in jan 1960
Mothers name Muriel donnette  (Comley ) passed 1977 fathers nam Maurice Daniel Hall senior  passed 1983/84.
As i know nothing of my fathers side Maurice jnr 1st I've heard he was in the army.
Only met a couple of his relos after his funeral as there is a 15  year age gap between my dad and his sister she was very young but insist he was in the army, i have nothing really to back up what she is saying she did say there was a medal and as Maurice snr  never served she's sure it belong to my dad but was stolen many years ago.
I did email the ADF they said they had several M Halls that severed around that time i would need to purchase several documents but trying to find a little more evidence to support what I've been told before spending a small fortune.
Hi Robynne,

The DVA site is (still!) down for maintenance.  In the interim, I've done a quick check on Trove but haven't come up with anything.  That doesn't mean that it isn't there, it may be that the search engine isn't picking it up as a lot of the entries require corrections.  Here's my search string:

I also tried a few other variations.  You can also limit the search to month/year (i.e. July 1935).  You can also bookmark this as a RSS feed.

If you haven't had a look at the DVA site, check it out when it's back up.  You might find Maurice is there.

Good luck!
